Drive Through on May 22, 2020

We are excited to share one last opportunity to say farewell to our students.

Parents will be allowed to drive through the Primary/Elementary School Campus from 2:00-3:30 on Friday, May 22nd.

Grade level teams will be stationed in front of the school beginning with 5th Grade and ending with PreK.

Staff members will be available to assist with traffic flow and directions.  Please adhere to the following guidelines:

  1. All cars will enter through the main driveway and follow the car rider route. No cars will be allowed to enter the parking lot area.

  2. Everyone will remain in their vehicle.

  3. Please create a sign with your child’s name, teacher’s name, and grade level to place on your dashboard. This will help with traffic flow and directing you to the right location to pick up grade level items.

As this nontraditional school year comes to a close, we would be remiss to not acknowledge our "Seniors," our 5th grade students!

We will use this week to feature our 5th grade classes, closing the school year on a positive note with heartfelt words from their homeroom teachers.

Mrs. Allen and Dr. Dunbar would also like to say, "Boys and girls, it's been a pleasure working with each one of you; we will miss you and wish you much success as you begin your middle school career!"

Our first featured class is Ms. Seiberg's homeroom!

🎉🎉Last but certainly not least, we present to you, Mrs. Whipple and Mrs. Amerson's Class! 🎉🎉

Once again, we are extremely proud of all of our amazing students and wish them well as they transition to the middle school!

Important Information regarding school closure and remote learning

Wilkinson County Board of Education

P. O.  Box 206

Irwinton, Georgia  31042

Dr. Aaron G. Geter, Jr.   Superintendent

 Dr. Virginia Rozier,  Assistant Superintendent

(Revised 3-17-2020)

Parents and Guardians,

Recently, Wilkinson County  Schools made the decision to initiate a precautionary extended school closure. Wilkinson County School District believes that the health and safety of our students is our top priority. We also believe that maintaining educational opportunities at this time is paramount.

As a District, we have developed the parameters below to ensure that our teachers are still providing quality instruction to your children. Over the time of closure (March 17th - April 10th), our teachers will be instructing students with a variety of technology based platforms. Students will have meaningful work to complete and will receive feedback from our teachers. In order to best serve our students, we need the help of our parents. During this time, we need you to continuously encourage your child to manage their learning experiences by doing the following:

  • Check Google Classroom platforms daily to receive instruction and practice materials.

  • Utilize email and other electronic platforms (Remind 101, Google Classroom, etc.) to communicate with their teachers about questions, misconceptions and student instructional needs.

  • Be timely in their efforts such that their instruction can remain as close to the regular school calendar as possible.

  • The CDC recommended social distancing. Avoid large group gatherings and stay home as much as possible to avoid exposure.

While the flexible learning plan has been shared with students, we wanted to be sure parents were also aware of their students’ responsibilities during the closure.  Thank you for your efforts to help our students continue to get quality instruction using our digital platforms!

Yours in education,

Aaron Geter Jr.  Ed.D.
